The Waste Framework Directive came into force in the UK on the 27th March 2011 as the Waste Regulations 2011 (England & Wales), and Waste Regulations 2011 (Scotland). The aim of the Waste Framework Directive is to lay the basis on which to make Europe a recycling society.
One of the main features of the Waste Framework Directive is the Waste Hierarchy. According to the Waste Framework Directive the Waste Hierarchy is legally binding. Anyone disposing of waste must consider the Waste Hierarchy and use the route highest up the table before agreeing a disposal route.
By September Waste Producers will have to sign the consignment note to declare they have considered the Waste Hierarchy before agreeing the waste disposal route. It might be prudent to check with your waste contractor to ensure your continued compliance with the Waste Framework Directive.
Safetykleen is the only Parts Washer supplier that recycles solvent for reuse. Other Parts Washer companies use dirty solvent to make a fuel (Energy Recovery). This is below recycling for reuse in the Waste Hierarchy and is therefore outlawed by the Waste Framework Directive. A difference in price alone will not be an acceptable excuse to use a supplier that does not recycle solvent for reuse.
Safetykleen's Waste Services recognize that waste prevention is at the top of the Waste Hierarchy. It is legally necessary for all businesses to find ways of reducing waste. Safetykleen Waste Services offer advice or practical means for waste reduction, reducing waste costs, and developing long lasting customer relationships.
Safetykleen guarantees to consider the Waste Hierarchy when deciding on the disposal route of a customer's waste.
